At Affaires et Loisirs, we aim to combine hospitality and comfort with respect for our environment.

We operate three holiday properties in Ariège - in Mirepoix, Les Pujols and Verniolle -   and continually invest in renewable energy, modern technology and the preservation of our natural surroundings.

Renewable energy

Today, all three of our properties are equipped with photovoltaic systems.

At Domaine de Bize, the photovoltaic installation produced 28,4 MWh of solar electricity in 2025. Together with the battery-storage system, it covered 80% of the property’s total electricity consumption. Surplus electricity was fed back into the public grid.

The photovoltaic installation at Gîte du Mercadal Les Pujols  produces approximately 32 MWh of renewable electricity per year .

The Gîte au Cœur du Village in Verniolle is also equipped with a 6 kWp photovoltaic installation. In 2025, it produced 8.38 MWh of electricity, almost 89% of which was consumed directly on site .

From fuel oil to biomass

When we took over Domaine de Bize in 2020, the entire property was still heated with fuel oil.

The fuel-oil heating system has since been replaced by a biomass heating system. To provide a local and responsibly managed source of heating wood, we also acquired approximately 10 hectares of woodland.

The woodland is managed so that significantly less wood is harvested than grows back naturally each year. It also provides habitats for wildlife, protects the soil and contributes to biodiversity .

Electric mobility and fewer journeys

For regular journeys between our three properties, we use an electric vehicle and combine transports and errands whenever possible.

Affaires et Loisirs also provides in all holiday homes electric-vehicle charging points for our guests.

Responsible use of resources

In our daily operations, we aim to use resources responsibly. Our measures include:

- refillable soap and shampoo dispensers;

- cleaning products that are as environmentally responsible as possible;

- fewer individual packages and single-use products;

- waste separation and recycling;

- sensible use of water, energy, towels and bed linen;

- maintaining and protecting our gardens, trees, meadows and woodland.

When renovating our properties or purchasing new equipment, we consider water and energy consumption alongside comfort and durability.

Improving step by step

For us, sustainability is not a finished project, but a continuous process.

We monitor the energy consumption of our properties, optimise our systems and regularly assess which further improvements are both meaningful and achievable.

Our aim is simple: to take practical action, invest responsibly and make our properties more sustainable step by step .
